When many people think of classic rock and rock in general, they think of the catchy guitar rifts, lightning fast guitar solos, and amazing lead guitars. Because of this, rhythm guitar are given less emphasis and rarely get the spot light.

Rhythm guitarists are often placed in the background with the lead guitarists and vocalists in the forefront getting all the recognition. Because of this, some view being called a rhythm guitarist as, almost an insult. They think that being a rhythm guitarist just means you are not good enough to play lead guitar.

Is this true? Does being a rhythm guitarist mean that you are not good enough to play lead?

For all you people that use a tuner to tune your guitar, you know that sometimes you just have one of those days where reaching over to grab that tuner and press that on button, takes way to much effort. To those who know what I am talking about, I recommend buying a guitar with a tuner built in or going the much cheaper way out, learning how to tune your guitar by ear. (more…)

 

If you have ever tried writing a song while guessing random chords to put in it you know how time consuming and frustrating it can be. You may ask yourself, “Do I use a minor chord or a major chord? Do I use A or A#?� These questions can be difficult to answer if you don’t know how scales fit into the picture.
